  • This traverse from the Annapurna section to Dolpa will takes on a journey into a complete no-man’s-land with spectacular desolate landscapes with the amazing view of himalaya, especially from the Jalja La pass (3386 m) where a whole range of mountains up close like Dhaulagiri (8167 m) and Gurja Himal (7193 m) can be seen.
  • Reached on the trail is the rough and beautiful Dhorpatan Wildlife reserve which earlier in the days, was only frequented by hunters in search of blue sheep which are quite abundant here but controlled hunting is allowed with proper license and certain seasons in the year now with limited amount of hunting operations in the reserve.
  • The area’s vegetation is characterised by alpine, sub-alpine and high temperate vegetation with well-developed mixed hardwood forest at lower elevation and many plant species of drier climate to North and common species including fir, pine, birch, rhododendron, hemlock, oak, juniper and spruce.
  • It is the prime habitats of blue sheep; other game species are Ghoral, Himalayan Tahr, Black Bear Pheasant and Partridgealong with the birds species found within the reserve including several endangered species of pheasants & partridge, mostly Chirr Pheasant and the nine different coloured Danphe, the national bird of Nepal.
