  • Barah Chhetra, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is one of the four Chhetras as per Hindu mythology which is located in Sunsari district at the conflux of Saptakoshi and Koka rivers.
  • 'Barah' refers to boar and 'Chhetra' refers to area. As per the mythical stories, Lord Vishnu ascended in the earth at this spot in the form of a boar and destroyed an evil demon called Hiranyakashyapu to save the earth from being immersed into the underworld.
